Sep 30,  · Lowering the number of resources the VM could use helped a bit when needed to kill the process, but it shouldn’t be causing these random freezes in the first place. Sometimes this happens after only 30 minutes of use, sometimes this doesn’t happen or many many hours, and I have yet to find a predictable cause. 2 days ago · The VMware 11 workstation on Ubuntu with windows guests freezes from time to time with very high cpu utilization. This process vmware-vmx and khugepaged get % cpu time for a couple of seconds. The khugepaged is the process that configures the transparent hugepages. When we disable the transparent hugepages windows guest run without freezes. This box is a note. You can add and remove as many boxes as you want. Boxes can be used to display things like location info, store hours, pictures, ads, etc.

It is places on a separate SSD disk of the host machine. I have a host machine on the same Windows 8. Expected result: no freezes for host or guest machine Actual Result: guest machine freezes for about seconds.

In version 12 I had no such a problem. I’m not sure what your workflow really is. There is obscurity in the Steps. Can you explain what those circumstances are in RDP use, when it freezes. Since this isn’t a problem when physically using the Host, this must be RDP related.

We seem to be talking about a corporate PC as the virtualization platform. In principle, a wrongly implemented virus scanner will freeze the Guest use for a certain time, if VMware disk files are being analyzed. Now, in this case it seems that this too-eager-scanning-of-files, would need to be related to RDP use, only This virus scanner thingy is just one thing – don’t know what security programs actually would do in this case.

I just connect to my office machine host where I use virtual machines guest as an isolated environments. All like in steps. In this moment if freezes. Never during operations not related with HDD. I don’t have antivirus to scan. I wonder what your corporate PC is doing and why? That would definitely point to some security measures going on.

A few questions:. This doesn’t seem like anything VMware-specific The session is the same, I don’t disconnect from RDP, I just switch to the desktop of my home computer. Collapse means exactly collapse: press ” – ” button the RDP window to switch to home computer desktop.

In this case I have like 3 working computers desktops at the same time. The problem didn’t happen with older VMWare player versions. Sine 11 or 10 I think. And I can’ downgrade to it. But maybe it’s RDP. Have no idea. Why the problem occurs on the second RDP session or whatever that “second” really means, a question arised above is still obscure EDIT: There was already an answer before ending this post. Yes, that is what collapse literally means. I just wanted to make sure.

It was disabled and virtualization of CPU as well. This doesn’t help. I’ve just re-tested: I – tried to close Visual Studio window with projects reload. Because the last freeze was minutes ago. RaSystemlord wila. I’ve mixed up with forum interface to edit a reply. Instead of that I pressed a “correct answer” because word correct also means edit in some languages and set your answer as correct, while it’s wrong. There is still no solution!

I have uninstalled virtual box and enabled driver verifier again. I have been able to reproduce issue and it is vmx Please note that I have earlier tried different versions of workstation and result is same. Could you please advise if it is due to any security setting that is suspecting this driver as an issue?

This is because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect by the administrator and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver. If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, BugChecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will be among the most commonly seen crashes. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit.

My issue is windows 10 crashing when i power on VM on VMware workstation. While we troubleshooting this issue, i have installed Virtualbox to create VM to create VMs as an alternate solution. However when we enabled driver verifier for 1st time, virtualbox driver caused BSOD during reboot which was initiated to get verifier settings into effect. As you informed, this crash was caused due to virtualbox driver hence i uninstalled it. I have again enabled driver verifier for 2nd time and able to reproduce crash during powering ON vm on VMware workstation.

It is caused by vmx Just recently past 2 weeks my VMWARE guest running Win10 has started having terrible performance issues and periodically freezes for seconds at a time. The Host is not having these freezes and issues and this guest has been active for years so it’s not new at all.

TDSSKiller reported no rootkits. An example of what I’ll see is I’m watching Process Explorer which auto refreshes every 2secs Then when it becomes responsive again, it’s like it’s catching up.. So it’ll still do the tasks that were supposed to be done while ‘frozen’ when it comes responsive again. Note that I will see these freezes while in anything on the system, but Process Explorer is just a good example.

I would really appreciate any suggestions or insights as I’ve been looking at this for almost two weeks and not finding the culprit. Thank you. Why is the host running? I don’t understand what you’re asking here. What am I doing that is not legal?? We paid for Win10 on host.. I think I’m missing something here. Also, do you have any input or suggestions on the guest freezing issue that I detailed here?

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Try upgrading your VMware Workstation to the latest 16 version and check if the problem persists. If there are no hardware issues with the host server itself and the guest OS, one or another suggestion should definitely fix the problem. Never heard of that one. Do you find you need to do that very often? Then I would be stuck with a Hyper-V virtual machine.

Wouldn’t I lose some capabilities if it wasn’t a VMWare virtual machine?

It sounds similar enough on the face that I suspect it could be so I figured I’d let you know what I ran into and what has worked for me though obviously you get none of the benefits of the new gpu sandboxing and it may even impact the new DX11 compatibility I’m not sure as I don’t use it.
